Vietnamese swimmers prepare for Singapore meet

A 22-member squad of national athletes will compete in the Southeast Asian Swimming Championship in Singapore this May, team coach Nguyen Dang Ha said.

The group, to include juniors, have been training in Da Nang City since January in preparation for the region's biggest event.

Top swimmers Duong Thi Thom and Le Thi Viet Trinh have managed to sustain their form during training.

"Thom will make every effort to stick to her 50 and 100m backstroke times of 30 seconds and 1min 5sec, respectively," the coach said.

Trinh, 17, will also be a medal contender in the women's 100 and 200m breaststroke divisions. — VNS
