Vietnamese boxers seek Olympic tickets

HA NOI – Vuong Thi Vy and Luu Thi Duyen will compete at the Asian boxing Olympic qualifiers from April 4-13 in Kazakhstan.

Vy, who is the world youth champion, will box in the women's U60kg category, while Duyen, who won a silver medal at the world youth tournament, will participate in the women's U54kg class.

The athletes left for a training course in North Korea after Tet in preparation for the competition.

According to Vu Duc Thinh, head of the Boxing Department under the National Administration of Sports and Physical Training, North Korea is home to world champions, and would be an ideal destination for Vietnamese boxers to practise and improve. – VNS
