You Asked

Dear Viet Nam News,

Occasionally, I drive in Ha Noi. Using my Singaporean driving license, I obtained a Vietnamese driving license. I know the traffic rules and regulations might be different from Singapore, hence I would like to know what are the written traffic rules and regulations in Viet Nam, as I can't seem to find any related information using the Google search engine.

I would appreciate your direction and advice to find English traffic rules and regulations for us foreigners who want to know more about the traffic system.

Yours truly,

Aska Phoon

Dear Aska Phoon,

Thank you for your email. Regarding your question, we have contacted the Ministry of Transport's Legal Department and were told by legal advisor Nguyen Thi Kieu Nguyet that the Viet Nam Traffic Law (English version) was being edited and would be published in the next two months. Nguyet said that the publication would then be posted on the ministry's website at www.mt.gov.vn.

You can also contact the magazine Viet Nam Law & Legal Review which publishes English versions of all Vietnamese laws and regulations. They can provide hard copies at a cost of VND100,000 (US$5.25) each at their office at 79 Ly Thuong Kiet Street, 14th floor, in Ha Noi.

We hope this information is of some help to you.

Best regards,

The Editor
