Fires kill 51, injure 112 in nine months

HA NOI (VNS)— About 1,400 fires occurred in households and other buildings throughout the nation in the first nine months of the year, killing 51 and injuring 112 others, according to the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department.

The blazes often occurred outside working hours. Damages are estimated to be more than VND844 billion (US$40.5 million).

Negligence control of fires and faulty electricity systems were the main culprits, the police said. —VNS
