Farms flooded after Nghe An dam failure

NGHE AN (VNS)— The Tay Nguyen dam in Quynh Thang commune, Quynh Luu district in central Nghe An Province, suddenly broke on Tuesday, flooding 9ha of paddy fields and other crops.

The dam, more than 10 years old, was repaired only two years ago but succumbed to torrential rain over the past few days.

According to the local committee for flood and storm prevention, damage is estimated at about VND966 billion (US$46 million). — VNS
