790 building violations yet to be dealt with

HA NOI — The authorities of Ha Noi have identified and dealt with 1,700 cases of construction violations since 2010, according to the municipal Department of Construction.

Of the violations, more than 1,000 are for the unauthorised construction of buildings on agricultural and public land and over 550 are cases of land encroachment without permission.

The authorities have so far demolished 600 violating buildings and requested the demolition of over 310 others, while 790 others have yet to be dealt with.

Chairman of the Ha Noi People's Committee Nguyen The Thao attributed the situation to investors' poor awareness, poor law dissemination and loose management. — VNS
