Twelve trafficking victims rescued

LAO CAI — The northern mountainous province of Lao Cai's Social Protection Centre has taken into care 12 women rescued from a human trafficking ring, according to the provincial Border Guard Command on Monday.

They had been taken to work in China as prostitutes.

The command – with the help of their Chinese counterparts – arrested the 21-year-old ring leader from Bao Thang Commune after one of her victims informed the authorities.

The case will be taken to court after further investigations. .— VNS
