Elephant attacks teenagers, kills 1

DONG NAI — Nguyen Tran Vu, 14, was attacked and killed by an elephant on Sunday near the Da River in Dong Nai Province.

A representative from Dong Nai's Forest Management Office said Vu and two other friends Trinh Hoang Dong and Nguyen Van Thom were going on a motorbike to do some fishing when the elephant appeared and attacked them.

The beast pierced Vu with its tusk. The youth died from his injuries. Dong and Thom escaped without injury.

Two men choke to death on biogas

TIEN GIANG — Two men choked to death on Sunday morning from gas in the biogas storage of a livestock farm in Dong Thanh Commune, Go Cong Tay District, southern Tien Giang Province.

Two other men fell unconscious and were taken to Tien Giang General Hospital, where they later recovered. The victims were reported to have been operating machinery to pump waste and entered the storage tank to check the machine. — VNS
