Tourism Year to spotlight Red River region in 2013

HA NOI — Hong (Red) River Delta civilisation would be the theme for Tourism Year 2013, according to officials from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Minister Hoang Tuan Anh stressed that the tourism strategy next year would complement socio-economic development plans of provinces and cities in the Red River Delta, with Hai Phong as a focal point.

The minister hoped other cities would co-operate with Hai Phong to organise activities to promote tourism in Viet Nam and in particular Hai Phong.

Various tourism events will be organised throughout the year including a food festival, a photo exhibition, a festival for amateur cheo (traditional opera) artists, a festival of handicraft villages, and an international arts festival.-VNS
