Photographer's images to go on show in Singapore

HA NOI — A collection of seven photos taken by Viet Van, journalist of Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper, will be displayed at the third Singapore International Photography Festival in October.

Van's works, selected from his collection entitled Hoi Tho (Breath), feature monks sitting in a deep meditation at Truc Lam Monastery (Vinh Phuc province). They are among more than 9,000 selected photos from 59 countries and territories to be exhibited at the biennial event.

The festival aims to discover emerging artists and original, contemporary photographic works.

The photos will be displayed in various places in Singapore in October along with workshops on contemporary photographic work. The organisers will also bring these works to exhibitions across Asia. Van recently won first prize at the international photo contest Creative Invite organised by the global social networking website Talent House based in the US along with the photography community ViewBug. — VNS
