Singing contest goes to finale

HA NOI – A final round of the Sao Mai Diem Hen (Morning Star – Rendezvous) singing contest will be organised in the central city of Hue from June 9.

The round will see the participation of 12 contestants living and studying music in Ha Noi, HCM City and Hue. They will be assisted by composer Quoc Bao and two Thai dancing specialists.

Held by the Viet Nam Television since 2004, the biennial contest aims to discover and reward singers with potential nationwide. It will be broadcast live on VTV2, VTV4 and VTV6 channels every Saturday over 10 weeks. This year composer Nguyen Hai Phong, singer Tung Duong and journalist Phan Huyen Thu will join the jury board.

The first round and audition were held in the northern and southern regions before the final round, where the contestants can select pop, R&B, dance, hip-hop and rock to express their singing talent. — VNS
