Stone Age axes found in central province
QUANG BINH — Ancient stone axes have been found in the mountainous commune of Truong Xuan in Quang Ninh District in the central province of Quang Binh, according to the provincial museum. Most of the objects were found by members of the Bru Van Kieu ethnic group while hunting in the jungle. The V-shaped axes, which have a polished surface, were whittled from yellow silica stone and, as the blades became blunt, were used for digging and cutting plants. Researchers at the museum believe that the objects date to the late Stone Age, about 4,500-5,000 years ago. — VNS
