Man found with bones of a rare wild cat

HA NOI — A 56-year-old man from Ha Noi's Hai Ba Trung District was apprehended on Thursday carrying 15kg bones from a rare wild cat on a motorbike.

Police from Hoan Kiem District said an examination by the Ecological Institute showed that the bones were from the panthera species, a genus of the cat family.

Panthera are covered by Government Decree 32/ND-CP, which forbids any trade in live animals or animal parts for any commercial purposes.

The case is under investigation.-VNS
