Viet Nam-US trade to hit $50b by 2020

HA NOI (VNS)— Viet Nam-US trade turnover is expected to reach US$50 billion in 2020, according to the American Chamber of Commerce in Viet Nam (AmCham).

AmCham forecasts that bilateral trade will exceed US$27 billion by 2013 with Viet Nam's exports estimated at $22.5 billion, and will rise to $33 billion by 2015 with exports totalling more than $27 billion.

It notes that trade relations between the two nations continued to grow in 2012 but at a lower level than the previous years. Noticeably, the country's garment and textile exports to the US market increased by only 8 per cent to $7.8 billion. It is estimated to reach $8.4 billion in 2013, $9.1 billion in 2014 and $9.7 billion in 2015.-VNS
