Morning peak in gold prices

HA NOI – (VNS) Domestic Gold prices have climbed to VND47.4 million (US$2,278) per tael this morning, the highest recorded since last September.

Prices rose by VND950,000 ($45.6) yesterday, according to the DOJI Group.

The most recent peak occurred at the end of August last year with a price of VND49 million, but this decreased to roughly VND40 million in May.

Over the past three weeks the domestic price has been increasing, remaining

about VND2.8 million ($135) a tael higher than the world price.

The gold price in the world market is also improving following the US Federal Reserve's decision to buy mortgage bonds and maintain interest rates in a bid to support the country's economic recovery.

The gold price in the Asian market this morning was $1,772.60 per ounce, approaching the February peak of $1,790. – VNS
