Logistics centre for Hai Phong

The Economic Zone Authority in northern Hai Phong Port City has licensed construction of an oil and container logistics centre in the Dinh Vu Economic Zone.

The centre will supply logistics services, a pipeline supply, container maintenance service, and container warehousing to an expected 70,000 containers a year. The centre will be built next month and begin operation in 2014.

Exports to US grow by 15% in nine months

Total export turnover to the US in the last nine months of the year has reached US$14.3 billion, an increase of 14.8 per cent over the same period last year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has said.

Because targeted turnover for the year was US$20 billion, the ministry said that $2 billion would have to be recorded each month in the fourth quarter. According to the ministry, the target may be reached as the US has shown signs of economic recovery.

Heroin shipment seized in Thanh Hoa

Border Guard authorities in the central province of Thanh Hoa seized 116kg of heroin at the house of Thao Xay Vang, a resident of Sam Nua Town in Lao's Huapharih Province.

Border guards said he and his wife had transported the heroin over the border. Vang told police the heroin was from Laos and that he was going to sell it in Viet Nam.
