Da Nang offers loans to enterprises

The central city of Da Nang has pledged to grant VND3 – 5 trillion ($150-250 million) from the State budget to guarantee money for banks loans to enterprises.

The announcement was issued late last week after the city's Party secretary Nguyen Ba Thanh met with enterprises and banks to solve difficulties.

Thanh asked banks to review all enterprises' profiles to select healthy companies for the new loans.

A project to offer vocational training for rural labourers has not met expectations. For the first half of the year, only 135,400 people, or 28.4 per cent of the year's target, were trained. The goal was to train 500,000 rural workers and 100,000 commune-level government staff. Eighty-two per cent of those who received training found jobs.

The national carrier Viet Nam Airlines has been able to train pilots locally, and has not sent them to study abroad. The first 20 pilots in the programme were granted flying licences on Friday in Cam Ranh city in the central province of Khanh Hoa.

Conference promotes nuclear power development

An information and communication training conference on nuclear power development was organised in the central province of Ninh Thuan on Friday. Construction on two nuclear power plants will begin in 2014.

Russian and Japanese consultants were hired to investigate and conduct research on the facilities, which are expected to be completed by 2020.
