Ministry warns Da Nang on limiting immigrants

The Justice Ministry has asked the Da Nang's People Council to cancel all decisions related to limitations on the number of immigrants allowed in the central city.

The announcement was issued after the ministry met with representatives of the Da Nang's People Council. The ministry asked the city to follow the provisions of the Immigration Law and if it refused, the violations would be reported to the Prime Minister.

Hydro project delayed over environmental concerns

The 6 and 6A Dong Nai hydropower projects have been delayed because of concerns about the environmental impact to Cat Tien National Park and downstream areas of the Dong Nai river.

A task force has examined and revised the project, including representatives of the ministries of Natural Resource and Environment, Agricultural and Rural Development, Industry and Trade, Science and Technology departments of Lam Dong, Binh Phuoc, Dak Nong provinces, Cat Tien National Park, scientists and experts of Ecology, Environment and Sustainable Development Institutes and investors.

The position of dykes, a water-resource system, the flow of the streams and planting of trees will all be examined before the project is approved.

Viet Nam has improved its ranking in the United Nations e-Government list from 90th out of 190 countries in 2010 to the 83rd position this year.

Twenty-nine of 30 ministries and all 63 provinces have their own websites, and 4,000 main offices of ministries, industries and local authorities have installed professional data-transmission systems. Around 95,000 public services are carried out online.

By 2015, Viet Nam aims to have at least 60 per cent of official State documents digitised, and 50 per cent of tax declarations will be sent and approved through the internet.
