City to spend $6.6 million on road safety

HCM City will implement 41 traffic safety programmes in several districts at a cost of VND149 billion (US$6.6 million) this year.

They include putting up lane dividers on many streets like Cong Hoa Street in Tan Binh District and Kinh Duong Vuong Street in Binh Tan District, and widening of Nguyen Thi Dinh and Dong Van Cong Streets in District 2. More traffic signals will also be installed at intersections in suburban areas.

Malaysian businesses eye co-operation

HCM City deputy chairwoman Nguyen Thi Hong , on Monday received a delegation of 50 businesses executives from Malaysia's Sarawak State who have come to explore co-operation opportunities.

The visitors expressed a desire to co-operate with HCM City businesses in several fields including education, training, and high-tech farming.

Sarawak is one of Malaysia's biggest states.

Delta region sees increase in tourism

The Mekong Delta provinces have received 12.8 million foreign and domestic visitors in the first seven months of this year, 6 per cent up year-on-year, according to the local Tourism Association.

The region earned more than VND2.6 trillion (US$123.8 million) from tourism, a 25 per cent rise. Can Tho, Bac Lieu, Ben Tre, and Soc Trang were the top destinations.
