Residents donate land for infrastructure

Residents of 18 communes in the southern province of Tra Vinh have, over the last two years, donated 400,000sq.m of land, worth VND20 billion (US$960,000) for constructing roads, irrigation works and power-supply infrastructure. They have made the donations towards a project to build "new rural areas.' Provincial authorities expect to complete building the new rural areas in 90 per cent of its communes by the end of this year.

Ninh Thuan seeks clean energy investments

Central Ninh Thuan Province is calling for investments into wind power plants in the districts of Ninh Phuoc, Thuan Bac, and Thuan Nam with a total capacity of 753MW, and solar power plants with proposed capacity of 400MW.

Ninh Thuan has biggest wind speeds nationwide at an averaging of 7.1m per second. It annual average sunshine duration is 2,600-2,800 hours, with solar irradiation of 238kcal per sq.m.

Ministry to inspect 8 taxi firms for breaches

On July 30, the Ministry of Transport will launch a month-long inspection of eight taxi firms and co-operatives for compliance with regulations. The eight firms are: Cuu Long Petro Gas Transportation Jsc, Hai Bay Bay Transport Service Co.Ltd, Rang Dong Private Company, Ben Thanh Transport Service Co-op, 27/7 Transport Tourist Co-operative, Hoan My Transport Tourist Taxi Cooperative and the Thien Phuc Transport Tourist Cooperative. The inspection will focus on vehicle and driver registrations, vehicle maintenance, taxi meters, switchboard operations, parking lots and tax payments.
