Work to begin on central highway later this year
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has approved construction of the Da Nang-Quang Ngai Highway later this year, according to the Government Office.
It will cost around US$1.42 billion, of which the World Bank has already provided $631 million. The six-lane, 139km highway will allow vehicles to travel at 120 kilometres per hour.
It will start in Da Nang's Hoa Vang District and end in the west of Quang Ngai Province, helping shorten travel time between Da Nang, Quang Nam, and Quang Ngai, and connecting Laos and Cambodia with seaports in Viet Nam's central region.
