Ministry to create emergency medical stations

The Ministry of Health said on Sunday that it was working with the Ministry of Transport to carry out a project constructing emergency healthcare stations along express highways as part of efforts to reduce fatalities in road accidents.

The project aims to have medical officers available at the accident scene within 10-15 minutes so that the injured can be given first-aid to before being taken to nearby hospitals.

Philippines buys more Vietnamese rice

Viet Nam has signed contracts to export 170,000 tonnes of 5 per cent and 25 per cent broken rice in July and August to the Philippines, says the Viet Nam Food Association (VFA).

Local exporters have shipped a total of 3.475 million tonnes so far this year for a turnover of US$1.6 billion.

Nordic fund supports climate change projects

The Chairman of Thua Thien-Hue Province People's Committee has signed two decisions on receiving non-refundable aid form the Nordic Assistance to Viet Nam (NAV) organisation for projects to mitigate climate change impacts in Vinh Hai and Phong Binh communes.

NAV will provide VND1.5 billion (US$72,000)of the total project cost of VND1.8 billion ($86,000). The project aims to reduce the vulnerability of poor communities and other disadvantaged people to climate change impacts.
