Northern port city attracts increased capital

The northern port city of Hai Phong has attracted FDI worth US$962 million in the first half of this year, a 336 per cent increase compared to the corresponding period last year.

Fourteen FDI projects have received licences, including the Bridgestone Tire Sales Viet Nam Limited Liability Company, which has a capital of $574.8 million and Nipro Pharma Viet Nam Limited Company ($250 million).

Lotte Viet Nam to build central trade centre

The central province of Binh Thuan has licensed Lotte Viet Nam to build the Phan Thiet Lotte Complex Trade Centre at Hung Vuong 1 residential area in Phan Thiet.

The seven-storey mall will be built on an area of 7,453 sq. metres at a cost of $30 million, according to the province people's committee.

More than 32,000 workers sent oversees

Viet Nam has sent 32,272 guest workers aboard in the first five months, or nearly 36 per cent of this year's target of 90,000, according to the Overseas Labour Management Department.

Taiwan tops the list in terms of number of workers with 11,319, followed by the Republic of Korea (5,743), Japan (3,463), Laos (2,880), Malaysia (3,143), Cambodia (2,201), Macao (948), Cyprus (730), UAE (418), and Russia (102).

For the first time Viet Nam has sent 43 workers to Denmark.
