Gov't officials plan regular meetings

Ministers, leaders of ministry-level agencies, state offices and chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and cities should meet periodically with young people to discuss problems they face, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has said in a directive on implementing the Vietnamese Youth Development Strategy until 2020.

Dung asked ministries and localities to start implementing the strategy next month.The strategy, which he approved last year, aims to develop a generation with knowledge and skills to meet the needs of Viet Nam's industrialisation, modernisation, and integration process.

Forest firm director suspended

Nguyen Thanh Cong, director of Dong Nai Province's La Nga Forest Co, and his deputy Nguyen Thanh Lam were suspended from their jobs for not performing their forest management and protection duties responsibly, according to a decision signed by the Viet Nam Forest Corporation (Vinafor) on Monday.

Drought-hit region lacks water

Railways offer 10 per cent discount

The Viet Nam Railway Corporation will cut by 10 per cent the price of north-south train tickets for students travelling for university and college entrance examinations to be held in July and August.

The discount which will be offered from May 21 until December 31, will also be given to an accompanying relative.
