Deputy PM targets Dong Nai River protection

Deputy Prime Ministry Hoang Trung Hai has issued a decision on protecting the environment of Dong Nai River. Under the decision, provincial agencies will inspect companies causing pollution in 12 provinces along the river. They will supervise waste treatment system installation for 60 per cent of urban areas and 100 per cent of industrial parks and export processing zones. The agencies will also fine and close enterprises that cause pollution along the river.

Car sales experience pre-Tet boom

Domestic automobile sales rose by 48 per cent in January compared to the same period last year, reported the Viet Nam Automobile Manufacturers' Association. The sales reached 10,424 units in January, down 17 per cent in comparison with last December.

Ha Noi has the highest sales figure with 4,996 units, while HCM City sold 3,998 units.

HCM City to build 11,000 apartments

The HCM City People's Committee has approved the Construction Department's plan for building 11,000 resettled apartments in the new urban area in the southern part of the city. The apartment will provide accommodations for residents who currently live in clearance areas in the city.
